our jet car is on mega builders on the discovery channel again today if anyone cares to see history in the making. keep an eye out for my toy in the background too.
whats the latest on you guys bringing back the land speed record to the good ole USofA
i saw it yestureday or the day befor when it was having fuel problem it looks cool
btw i wasn't on the team until after the last engine mechanic shelled out the turbine. after he was fired, myself & 2 guys from work were called in to help so another motor didn't shit itself.
also all the footage was from 2 years ago. since then we've done a few more runs to test out numerous other systems & if it all keeps going right, we'll make a run in the high 600's to low 700's around march to test the high speed braking & steering before late june where we'll go for the unofficial record. then in the beginning of july we'll go back out there with guiness for the real deal.
what is the land speed record, just wondering?
763mph & we're trying for 800
interesting. perhaps ill race you on my moped one day...
good luck setting the record, who drives those things? whoever does must have big balls...
How long does it take you to get to that speed and to slow down. Both time and distance if you don't mind. 800 that is insane. I would like to buy the driver of that thing a cold one.

i'm not sure of the time, but in theory (based on the current 763 record) it should take 3-4 miles to get to speed & 4-5 miles to stop it. the last run was a few weeks ago was only 345mph to test the new steering hydraulics & from start to finish was about 45 seconds on a 5000ft runway, so i'd take a guess at about 3-5 minutes for the 800 (that's mach 1.05 so we can't make a run like that until the flats because of the sonic boom after you break the sound barrier). the bonneville salt flats is 19 miles long so there's plenty of room for the whole run & the way guiness does it, they take 3 readings 1000 feet apart & a chase aircraft to record the highest speed.
the driver is also one of the team owners & his name is ed. i believe he's in his late 50's or early 60's. he's just a rich old guy hell bent on going fast.
