A friend of mine informed me that ssd is selling tear drop tub kits that look just like mine. Sure enough they are. He said something that made alot of since to me.
"I am greatful for companies like SSD that tries to make things affordable and accessible to minitruckers, but at the same time it kinda sucks because some people spend so much time trying to fabricate things and do somthing diffrent, then they come out with shit that you can "bolt on" or buy "pre-made"."

When I was building the bed I figured after awhile I would see a few styles similar to mine. I never thought it would be like this. I spent alot of time thinking of a bed treatment that was alittle different, and countless more tranferring the idea to steel. I take alot of pride in what I create. Then later to see the same thing on a site for 200 bucks really sucks. To me it takes the k out of kustom.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Atleast I was able to roll my bed treatment for 2 seasons. I guess this will just drive me to do something different again.

Yeap! Had a few designs in my patent stolen and are now being used in production from a few companies! I can't sue them over it because it is not my "main" idea that I patented and just a design feature. Sucks!!!

there is quite a bit of difference between ssd's and your tubs (thiers are quite a bit stubbier) and prolly i doubt jason has ever seen yours or actually copied your idea/design....but i wouldnt fret it

yup just gave ssd my credit card info, ordered those bitches for my bedfloor in the toyota, wudda ya think rabbit !! LMAO dont worry its gonna be ok lil buddy.... u did it first and everyone knows it !!!

Damn that sucks. I wish i could tell you i knew how you felt but i just got into this scene a couple years ago and have only had my truck on air for about a month. I havent gotten anywhere close to under construction stages like you guys. But good luck with the new bed scheme. Hope the next one isn't stolen.
