i used to work in a body shop n i was showed to bring it down to bare metal that way never have a prob. in the long run n i live were the weather changes from cold to hot n the bondo will crack if not properly used r just fall off lol prep work is everything not everyone holds the skills to do body work

ok well he says he wants to give it to me in a few year (hes older like 60's) and i want it done right the first time. saves money for him and time later for me. thanks for the help guys!

There is a guy in town who bondoed over paint and him euro taillights on an S10. It all cracked out and the bond fell off the bedside within a few weeks. Now he has taken the bondo off and running euro tails again. Some people shouldn't work on their own vehicles.

if you bondo over paint sometimes when you are sanding it and you get close to being straight it will start falling off in chunks. once you have sanded the filler to the point where it is relatively thin (which it should be) it will just start chunking out when you sand it.

if its the truck I am thinkin about, it wont matter how much it was sanded cause I saw it today in the pouring ass rain, and covered in bondo, no primer or nothin....ouch
