SO WRONG!!!

my friend went against my advise and did not sand the paint off the box and bondo-ed over the paint in most areas! I told him he was wrong but he called me on it cus i didnt know exactly what, when, why, and how it will fall appart. the dents in the side of the box and his rollpan is like this. please help me tell him why its WRONG and to do it right! thanks guys

I know its wrong but what will happen? this guy is a fact guy and if he doesnt have facts he wont beleve. he aslo likes to do things his way(not always the right way)

tell him bondo does not adhere properly to paint it says so right on the can I believe. After a while the vibration will make it fall off

If you dont sand the paint most of the things that you put over it wont adhere properly.

you said sand the paint OFF..you dont NEED to sand the paint OFF for bondo to stick to it...kitty hair, duraglass..yeah that needs to be to metal..but u can get away with liteweight and especially Z-grip and glaze, over SANDED paint..but over non sanded..shiny paint..no..nothing will stick to it except paint and primer overspray..lol not sure why just overspray sticks so good to everything

back in the day (not my day), they always went to metal b4 bondo, now car manufacturers, I-CAR, all say, if possible, not to go to bare metal to prevent corrosion. i'd say not sanding the paint b4 bondo is a little risky tho. Let him do it, make sure you put some pics up tho!!!!

LET HIM GO AHEAD A DO IT AND WHEN IT FALLS APART HE WILL HAVE HIS ANSWER YOU TRIED TO TELL HIM ITS NOT YOUR FAULT, I MEAN THINK ABOUT IT YOU DONT LEARN WITH OUT TRIAL AND ERROR
