i just put a new battery in my 2000 s-10 & now the check engine light is on... do i have to go by autozone & get them to reset the computer?? the truck is running finethanks for your help
i dont think that the battery has any thing to do with the check engine light...it might be some thing else
I agree with low00sierre let the comp. reset but I thought it only took 10 min.
the truck was w/o a battery for over 30 min while i took the old one to swap it for a new one
it wouldnt hurt to bring it to have the code read
Get the code read just to be safe. With the battery disconnected that long it should have reset teh comp. There is a long list of things that could cause the Check Engine Light, some need attention and others don't.
