Heres whats goin on. I just put in a v8 and ive been trying to get it rolling the last couple days. I have a brake pedal when I have the motor shut off. But when i start it, the brakes are almost non existant. I have replaced the check valve on the booster and i have a vacuum line ran straight to the manifold. When i take that line off of the booster, the truck runs much smoother, and i have a brake pedal again. however I have not tried moving the truck without the vacuum line hooked up. I am thinking the brake booster is bad? There is also another possibilty. I seperated the booster from the master cylinder so that i could paint the booster the same color as my truck. when i did this, there was a rod that came out. it was a solid rod except on one end it had a smaller diameter. It is possible i put that rod in backwards or it wasn't supposed to come out at all but im not sure if that would cause me to have very little brakes with the motor running and the fact that the motor runs much smoother without the vacuum line hooked up. Im at a loss here guys. Ive got to have this thing running my early friday morning It also has a mild cam in it 274 lift 450 duration. I dont think that is "stealing" enough vacuum to cause all this but any insight is greatly appreciated.
Also to the SSM staff my membership ran out and I ran out of posts this month so I tried to renew by papyal and paypal tells me this merchant isn't accepting payments or something like that? Please fix it so I can renew.
