How to re-skin tailgate

I would like to re-skin my tailgate with a skin from sd, however im not exactly sure how it is done. could you please explain what i would have to do, any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

ok first do you mean take the old skin off you tailgate and put a new one on? those are for the whole rear and they replace the tailgate not to recover your tailgate. if im wrong please explain what you mean better becuase that is what it sounds like to me

well i was looking at a cali combo kit, and from what i understood i needed to take the old skin off and put a new one on. im not sure how to do this. i will eventually be welding the tailgate shut and getting rid of my taillights and molding it so its smooth.

u get rid of ur tail gate and weld some 1x1 bars across for strngt then u put the skin on it ..

yea, for that thing, you actually get rid of the tailgate. you dont want to weld a tailgate shut... it will crack on you. a skin that you weld in will take the place of the tailgate and you will have a complelty smooth rear end.

maybe he means just a tail gate skin not a full cali combo
