ok, so my buddy is about to start building his s10 that's been sitting in his shed for a long time. he's looking into getting a welder so me and him can do a lot of work ourselves for our first full build. what kind of welder(s) would you recommend for everything from frame to sheet metal interiors?
anything by Miller, lincoln or hobart, that runs off of 220. Dont kid yourself into believing that a 110v welder will be ok, just get a 220v model and you will be at a great starting base.
I personally run a Lincoln 215 for my mig machine, a miller syncrowave 250dx for my tig, and a lincoln 225/125 for arc and sometimes light tig.

A 110 WORKS GREAT IF YOU GIVE IT ENUF POWER.YOU CANT JUST PLUG IT INTO A REGULAR OLD GARAGE PLUG.THEY ARE ONLY ON A 15 AMP CIRCUIT OR SO.WE RAN A 30 AMP PLUG OUT OF MY FUSE BOX FOR MY WELDER AND IT DOES A GREAT JOB.I HAVE A LINCOLN 135 WELD PACK.MY FREIND IS SELLING HIS THAT IS LIKE NEW FOR 300 BUCKS IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.
All I have ever owned are Lincolns. Never had a problem with them. Just make sure u use a 220V welder for any frame work. Any1 that tells u that u can use a 110V welder on a frame is a fuckin idiot. Use a 110V on sheet metal only.

I BET HALF THE NICE TRUCKS ON THIS SITE WAS BUILT WITH THE SAME WELDER I HAVE.I GUESS WE ARE JUST A BUNCH OF FUCKIN IDIOTS.LOOK AT THE STOCK WELDS ON YOUR STOCK FRAME AND TELL ME THEY ARE STRONGER THAN A WELD FROM A 110 WELDER.IT IS PLENTY STRONG.IF YOU ARE USING 1/4 INCH STEEL THEN YES YOU NEED A BIG WELDER BUT YOU DONT NEED ANYTHING NEAR THAT THICK FOR A MINI.TRYIN TO WELD STEEL TOGETHER NOT MELT IT DOWN.
