First...I have a 99 sonoma. im looking to run a 2600 bag in the front. im replacing the control arms with KW arms. How much will i need to cut to be safe around the bag. when i do, i know u hafta use an upper cup, but because of how much im cutting the spring pocket, wont that all need to be braced on all sides? im not a welder, so im trying to find out exactly what needs to be done and if i need anything to be welded up?

what bag do you wanna use?

slams u dont have to cut as much b/c they expand up not out like everyone else.. but on the safe side.. if you use an SD upper cup, its offset and you'll need to cut all the way up to the tab on the top of your spring pocket.. basically you'll cut to just above the bottom of your upper cup, all the way across and down and in the back of the pocket, you'll cut all of the lip off and in the back you'll wanna cut all the way to the frame, then patch the gap up. the frame meets the pocket there, so when you cut the 'pinch' where it meets off, it creates a gap, fill it up.

yea...im runn slam 72s. since im going to be welding up gaps n spaces, should i adjust where the cup sits when i do it all.

cant adjust that.. it bolts in 1 way.. if you're using slams, you dont have to go that far back.. just cut the lip off in the back and then trim it back another 3/8-1/2 inch you should be good.. jack the tire up to check.. i am running sd's cups and re7's on my dime and the rear of my pocket isnt cut as deep as others who dont run these newer cups or slam bags, and i am a finger distance from rubbing all the way around.

so if im runnin slams 72s, i shouldnt have to hack it all out and brace the pocket. im really just trying to figure out if this is something i can do in my driveway, or if ill need to find someone to weld up some braces inside for me when i cut it out?

no you dont need to brace it back up, that would be nearly impossible anyways....

you do if you cut it back enough.. if not your frame can rip in that area.. b/c that is where the pocket and frame meet..

i use a setup where i dont have to. i use the same setup on everyone's s10's.. its cleaner imo.
