Is my compressor shot?

My compressor runs but doesnt pump any air. Is it just totally broke? Or can I give it a tune up?

well depends on what kinda compressor it is some have rebuild kits....

make sure you checkvalve is not stuck...had that happen to me once....the checkvalve was just stuck closed....sprayed lube on the thing and been going ever since....BUT i have an AIM compressor and an AIM checkvalve, so my shit being AIM may be the problem....

IF ITS A VIAIR THE SHAFT IS MORE THEN LIKELY BROKEN !!!

the reed valve could be bad or have a hole in it...

i had 2 viairs do this to me kick on but would not pump air... now i have 2 480's and i think one of them is doing it cuz my fill time is alot slower recently.

Yup, you can fix it. If its a year old or less, you may be covered under warranty. If its a year old or older, you can replace the intake valve (flapper), check the piston seal and cylinder wall to see if there's excessive wear and, you may want to replace your leader hose and check valve, or just the check valve. Any of the above can give you problems like you're having - and all are parts that are readily available.

I don't understand why people would post "new one"... They obviously didn't read your post. As long as it runs - you can fix it. Even when it doesn't, you can usually fix it as well...

can you let me know if you find out the problem i have 2 viairs in teh garage that run but dont pump and i think ones thats on the trucks doing it too now. how much do these parts run?
