i have a miller 210 with the spool gun, i run argon and do all my aluminum welding with the 210. i have a miller 185 for my carbon steel work. when you increase the voltage for thicker material, decrease your wire speed, that splatter means you are tryin to force too much filler material into the bead.---->>> start here -- heat 3 wire 50 -- increase the heat to 4 decrease the wire to 45. --- when welding thin material move voltage to 1 and wire to 25-30 --- move voltage to 2 wire 30-35 --- voltage 3 wire 35-50 --- voltage 4 wire 40-45 hope this helps. if u'r tryin to burn 3/4 plate or somethin, invest in an arc welder and learn how to burn a rod
