I went through the complete 4 year build of my truck keepng every recipt but never wanted to know what I had in it. When it was shot by Truckin' and StreeTrucks, both of their tech sheets wanted to know the amout invested in the truck. I told my wife, " well, I guess we are gonna' have to add this shit up" We spent a whole evening adding up every recipt. I've got about 40K in my truck and and did everything on it myself except the lower end of my engine, the new glass and exhaust. I wish I could sit here and say I have 12K in it, I'd have a bigger smile on my face but the recipts don't lie. Just about everything on my truck is new except the the cab, most of the bed and part of the frame. The only thing that wasn't taken apart was the trans. except for new lube and clutch assembly. Now you start adding up everything it takes to put a truck back together with new stuff and the shit will get out of hand real quick. I could sit and think of all the big things I purchased and probably come up with maybe 25k of that. Sit down and add up all the little recipts and look at what they were for. $12.50 here, and $150.00 there and it adds up real quick. The UPS man and the FED X man delivered something to my house during that 4 years at leasts twice a week and I was stopping at the auto parts store probably 3 times a week buying something. I knew before I even purchased my truck that 2/3rds at best of this invested would be lost. You have to know that going into it. But this was disposable income. My kids are grown and I'm not sacrificing anything except my time to build it. Hell, my wife hates it now that it's done and I sit in the house alot and bug the shit out of her. And as for as "you could have bought a new truck for the money you have in that", I do have a new truck, It just doesn't look like every other plain Jane truck I see on the road. My wife and I are glad we built it. We enjoy taking it to shows and meeting all you guy's, we have a blast. Hell, there are alot of people that spend this kind of money on their hobby. put a plan together for the build of your truck, stick to the plan and don't go crazy with it. I'm never going to have the nicest truck out there and I'm not going to try to compete with some of these guy's to have it. Just build what you can with the money you can afford to spend and roll with it. I see trucks and cars at alot of shows that don't have in their ride what I do, so what. That doesn't make my truck better than theirs. They are still awesome rides that I enjoy talking to the owners and checking out all the cool shit they did to it. My 2 cents. Sorry for the novel!

I enjoy blowing money that I don't have, so I just buy vehicles, drop about $10-15k in them, and then sell them for less than I originally bought them for and start on a new one.

Man I wish I would have just kept one of my vehicles and finished it, instead of 1/2 way completing 3 different ones!

... I probably have $40-50k between my three vehicles.

Sooper SCREWD, live and learn. Keep that in mind and finish the one you now have. If you are trying to have the best of the best and keep changing vehicles to do it, it will be a losing battle. Someone out there will alway's have something better in one way or another than what we have. Remember, "If you can't drive it and drag it, why have it"
