My brother just bought a 91 stepside full size and wants to shave the taillights and put caddy tails in the stock place. What would be the best way to do this since the bedsides are fiberglass?
good thread cause i have the same thing,my friend bought one about 3 years ago and it had shave body line and taillights, they just filled them with bondo, but i wouldnt trust that shit cause they say ur not supposed 2 fill anything if it requires more than 1/8 inch of filler
i wonder if u can just use steel fillers and put some wax paper over the top of them and lay the fiberglass over the top of it and make a mold then when it drys trimm it so it fits,i might try it and see if it works
you could probably do that with your stock taillights instead of wasting money on fillers

hell yea i never thought of that, thanks i think one of my friends has one just laying around that i will get from him 2 use incase i mess it up
Like you said Derek, the best bet would be to lay up your glass on a steel filler that has the proper shape. I don't know how well wax paper would work but masking tape and tin foil work wonders. Keep laying glass until it is thick enough to remove from the steel filler without warping, then apply the glass from the backside. When its thick enough trim it to fit and glass it on the truck.
on my old truck we took some figerglass fillers and filled everything else with kittie hair. done the body line the same way. a year later it still looked good. sold the truck though.
where did u get the glass fillers
your best bet is to get the fiberglass taillight fillers from stylin concepts... give me a few min. and i'll post up the link
