anyone ever have a problem with buring the power wire for their viairs? Both my compressors took a shit today and im lost.
At first i thought it was the solenoid but that wasnt it.... So then i replaced the psi switch.....no go..
So i looked at my wires and one wire had the red plastic all cracked....and the other compressors wire had a burn mark on it.....
could that be the problem?
First problem ive had with my compressors in over a year...kinda lost for answers
both going at the same time is slim.I would check the wiring.
what gauge is running to the compressors?
i had one where the points inside the compressor where the wires connect to break apart causing it to stop working but i just put new points in and it works fine
I have 2 480's no problems but i had a a 380 i think it was and it took a dump on me in about 3 days dunno what the problem was u could hear it running but wasnt pushing out air... than same problem iwth the 460...i think i burned them up
than i got 2 480's and had them wired all different and done right and havnt had problems
thats wierd they dont draw alot of amps,i had a 380 and it didnt use much power, now i have a dc 5000 and it draws like 35 amps and the wires get really hot on it and the pressure switches dont last,so i put it on a 60amp toggle switch
I got 0 gauge running from my battery.. and 2 fuses inbetween one is 80 amp the other is a 30 i believe....
I thought it was weird as fuck too....I mean i have a 420 and a 480 but i dunno....
They worked fine one minute....the next ....they didnt work.
yea i had one on my single cab and it did the same thing,it still ran but wouldnt build any air,i will never own another one,i like the one i got now ,but want a edc
i didnt read any of the other threads yet, but i will put money on it that you dont have a big enough gauge wire and not abig enough distribution block. Garenteed
on my viair 550 the wires inside behind the fan were sittin on top of each other and actually melted together and shorted them out and it no longer works and it had never been torn apart before
