I am fixin to buy a new welder. I really wanted a mig/tig combo but there all outrageous so I am getting the miller 210 with spool gun so I can weld aluminum. My question is. Does anyone have this setup and what do you think of it. I've welded with a spool gun before and it was ok. Thanks

I don't really care to do alot of welding with a spool gun because it's heavy and tough to manuever in tight places. If you are going to do alot of aluminum welding though it might be the way to go for you.

for the price of a miller 210 and a spool gun you can get a killer tig setup for a couple hundred more....and it will weld everything, with one gas....why not just get a tig.

I'm getting the setup for a pretty good price. The only aluminum I am going to be doing is fuel cells and small projects. I already have a mig but it's a lincoln 135 and it does ok but I want something that can penetrate better for frame work. I've tig welded before but I didn't like it that much. I would rather spend the money for the mig than for the tig.

hello I have a miller 251 with spoolgun. I love the welder for steel althogh I find it really touchy to get the aluminum spoolgun to weld correctly. I would try one out before spending the money.
Thank you, Scott

i think spool guns are awesome, and yes you can weld aluminun with it. it's better with a spool gun cause you don't have to clean the liner.

i have a miller 200 w/ spool gun for aluminium. i love it cuz i cant tig worth a fuck you have to use a spool gun cuz they is no way aluminum wire will push through a regular gun. its to flimsy.
