Get a new Cam Position Sensor. They go bad and will cause the truck to not start at times, may even cause the truck to die. Then finally quit all together. Sometimes it will start right back, but not always. I work at TS Performance and we have a 7.3 450. We keep an extra CPS in the glove box just in case. If you need any more info just let me know.

A CPS will cause a no-start situation.... but not a no-crank situation. A failing CPS will crank but will not cause any tach movement.

Yeah thats right about the cps. It ill turn over but not fire. I have had the same thing happen to my 550 as is happening to his truck. I took both battery cables off. let it sit a couple of minutes to let the computer reset and it cranked right up. I have also had one cell go bad in one of the batterys and the truck wont do anything either. Mine made the noise under the dash when the computer needed to be reset. I know a few people this has happened to.

we also had the cam sensor go out on our f-450 at 98k miles. it would die randomly and not restart unless you let it sit for a long while. funny thing was the truck had 100k warranty we didnt even know about, so it got fixed for free.

it could also be a bad battery cable. battery cables are really bad about going out on the f-series and explorers. check that too.

Brought my charget home and both batteries had a charge. Took cables off and then reconnected them and it started right up. Im going to get new terminals this week. Anybody done these before? They look more complex than normal trucks. Dealer Item or parts store?
