i have a 302 that im putting in my ranger and the guy i bought it from said he got it out a 86 and put it in his 65 and when he did that he said he changed the waterpump to the have the hose come out the passenger side. most all other 302's have the hose coming out the driver side. my question is... can i change it back to the driver side without any other things to consider?

no, ford hasnt changed parts in years.. that shit is all the same.. 86 had no knock sensors or anything.. you're good there.

no it doesnt matter.. ppl usually get the cheapy plastic ones for replacements anyways.

When i did my 302 swap into my mazda i went with a water pump off of a 5.0 explorer. the reason fo rthat was to have more clearence between the rad and the pulley . its like a 1/2"-3/4" i believe. It doesnt osund like much but o=it is when you gotta get your namds down in that area tt change or adjust something.

you have to take into consideration tho the year of the motor and make it came from cause the cars and trucks were different with waterpumps.. in some years they spun opposite directions.. simply by the belt mounting.. i ran into a problem with cooling and found out the waterpump was spinning backwards im not sure the years in which they did this but once you get the pump off and get a new one just make sure the impeller blades are the same on both pumps... or else your gonna run into cooling issues! hope this helps
