One last comp. question

Is it ok to unclip the harnesses from the comp. so i can move it easier...or will it cause something to need to be reset...i thought it would be alright, but then i had one of my buddies tell me it might have to learn to re idle again...wanted to get some other advice to keep me from doin something stupid...thanks
