trans question

i have a 454 with a 3 speed man. tranny, and i was wondering what my options would be on swaping the tranny. it being a manual doesnt bother me, just looking for somthing a lil more street friendly without losing the ability to tow every now and again. thanx for the help

do a 5 spd swap out of a newer dually. You would just need to convert from a manual clutch to a hydro clutch.

If you want to go to a auto swap to a 4L80E tranny. Depending on the year of your truck you may have to do some extra wiring.

the only way that a 4L80E will work is if it has an ECM that will operate a 4L80E. In other words, it would have to be like a 96-up GM that come factory with a 4L80E or like I did, a motor swap with such a computer.

I thought the earlier 4L80E's had a ECM that was for the trans only and was a pretty easy swap?

not that I know of. Id really like to put a 5spd in mine
