Has anyone ever used one of these? I know I've seen them on a couple of vehicles at shows before, but I'm interested to see how easy to operate and install they are?

I would like to run them that way when I do my interior this winter I don't have to worry about the crank.
Also, does anybody know if they have to pertrude out from the door? I wouldn't think they would have to on my ranger, since the panels are so big.
One last thing, does anybody know electrically how they operate. What I'm wondering is if they have built in limit switches? Say if I just hold 12V to the wires will the motor cut off once it, I guess, feels enough resistance on the crank?

they use a gear that slides over your stock crank gear (the one under your handles) so it will stick out as far as that does.
They operate on an reversing ground system, there are two wires to each motor and if you hook 12v to red and ground to black, the motor operates one direction. If you apply 12v to black and ground to red, it will operate the opposite direction. You need to use the "rested ground" switches that are made for the kit, or use a "5 wire" dual relay system with grounds on the 87a poles.
It has a circuit breaker that will shut it off if the window is tight against the seals, but it is auto reset, if you just left 12v applied it would constantly cycle on and off, on and off, until your battery was dead. You couldnt use it like that, therefore, so you would need a "window controller", like Twindows or the Windows Automation System from DEI, that will roll the windows all the way up or down with a single pulse, either from the window switch or from an alarm or really any thing you want.

What I wanted to do is hook it up via two of my extra outputs on my spal door popper kit. I know that i'll have to hold down the buttons on the remote for as long as it takes to roll them down, I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't burn up the motor or something if I held it down for too long
the window automation system from DEI is a little too pricy for me, I think I'll just rock my own relay system.

I like the Spal kits, they are indestructable.

yeah, i knew that about the dei kit, that's a really nice feature. I'm thinking about picking it up for the daily, but not really that interested in using it for the ranger.
