Cris, Why is it so hard to believe that he wouldn't be able to build NHRA legal car. My boy Danny did the same w/ his '73 Nova when he was 16-17 full blown 454 bored out .06 that he and his dad did all the machine work and he built the whole rear frame clip and roll cage. This is the Motor City up here after all we're just better at building shit!

I've found it quite common to be doubted because of my age.

I think its rediculous that you come on here and say, LOOK IM 16 AND I CAN DO THIS. Pretty shitty way to introduce your self. I started working on classic cars and trucks a lonnnngggggggggg time ago (rust repairs, panel changing, custom sheet metal work, frame & suspension work, etc), and now im 22. Who gives a shit how old you are, if your work is nice its nice. Practice makes perfect, so just keep on doing what your doing, yo can always improve.

You can't honestly tell me you didn't want props or a thumbs up from your peers when you were that age.

I have to say I dissagree with you Dwight. I think it takes a lot of commitment to take on a project like that at a young age. Most other kids are out doing other things, partying, going to movies, doing drugs, whatever. While other kids are out doing that, I'm in my garage.
However, I do agree that there is room to improve. I know that I still have a lot to learn, and I know that I need improvement in a lot of areas. But I think, for my age I'm doing all right. And I think that deserves some respect, because most people dont start this young.

i started doing bodywork on cars when i was about 15 or 16 and im still learning i use to be in hot rods with the rest of my family but then i was like ill change it up and i got this blazer when i was 17 and done all the body work myself and seth is right and at that age your peers dont see why you do it and think its a waste keep up the good work your never to old to learn

I honestly didnt care what anyone thought about what i was doing. The average person on the street has no idea what it takes to do what we do, and has no concept of what is nice and whats not, or whats done right and whats a hack. I was building what i wanted, and if you didnt like it, dont look at it.
And to what Seth said, yeah it takes time and commitment sure. I live in my shop (not really but pretty much), im there from 8-6 Monday through friday working on customers stuff. Im there afterhours during the week 3-4 days a week, playing with my stuff or my fathers stuff. And im there pretty much all day saturday and sunday working on my projects. Ive done this since i was about 12 or 13 since i got my first truck. And you dont see me coming on here and patting myself on the back. I just think it was a stupid way to introduce himself.

It may be. But you're a different person. Most young guys want props for what they're doing. Like you said, most people don't know how much work goes into these trucks, and don't know good from bad. Thats why people come here. Its more meaningfull to get a thumbs up from someone who knows whats up.
I started welding when I was 13, and I know back then all I wanted was a pat on the back. But the only person around was my uncle, and he always put me down. And my parents always doubted my abilities. Now, I don't care as much, I just want a cool truck that I'm happy with. But at the same time, I'm really new to the scene, building a reputation, and I really appreciate the props given from the older guys that have been in the scene for a while.

Im not trying to take props away from him, it looks like hes got the begining of a cool ass mini. But to me, age has nothing to do with how cool it is, or will be. I guess its probably just because i started so young.
BTW: Seth, you shouldnt even need any props, you should be able to sit back and look at your truck and know its bad ass, because it is. Now just finish it b/c i wanna see it done!!!
