the stock 'vette u-joints don't pivot far enough to get a decent amount of suspension travel, which makes tuckin' big wheels a problem. I'd look for an IRS that uses CV joints instead. I'm getting 16-inches of travel out of a narrowed '03 Ford Expo IRS. narrow that same IRS for a mini and you'd still get about 10-inches of travel whereas most vette irs installs i've seen only get about 6-inches. something to think about.

I get some pretty good travel from the RX7 rear... I could lay out on bigger wheels in the back no problem.

The heidt's stuff is awesome... but pretty $'s... There is a local rod guy that built a full frame and what not and im PRETTY sure its bagged too.

I just don't think you get to much travel with it.

I should see if I can dig up the pics.

You can get plenty of travel with those. Thats the same rear end I have. Mines just stock, with a Dana 44 pumpkin, and that is billet with a Ford 9" pumpkin. Its the same design. Mine gets a shitload of travel, and keeps good camber at lift. Gets about -7 laid out, and goes up to -1 at high lift.

i got the 87 rx7 under the rear of my dime and i can say mounting was simple the problem is if you dont find the turbo model you are going to be parts shopping for the spindles, calipers and rotors to convert it over to a 5 lug. My driveshaft was custom made as well as the rear break lines that im not gonna use. If you plan on putting wheels under it have fun it will need to be a fwd wheel to clear the bed or you will half to shorten the rearend, Also the wheel will half to be like 8 1/2 in wide if its a fwd ofset due to the clearance of the swingarm. i can lay the rear on 32" total diameter of the wheel before the half shafts hit the upper rear end mount. and you will only beable to get about 14" of lift out of it due to the half shaft binding, and ripping out of the rearend. I have Talked to alot of ppl with diferent irs setups the vet seems simple you only half to shorten a few things which wouldnt be hard.
SO its your decision all of them are gonna take some time and money.
