Quick Welder Question??
since it is the same as a lincoln 175 i was comparing it to purchasing a miller 175.. for doing light duty stuff the infinite dial is nice, i guess i just think its cooler than you do

My lincoln doesnt have a clicker, just a dial that can make precise adjustments.
which one do you have dwight?
hey i learned something new, the lincoln 135 and 175 models have a "plus" series that has the same amperage dials as the millers.
Ugh... I dunno what to do...
the line speed is an infinite dial... the voltage however is not.
The shitty thing is my Garage isn't wired for 220V... We might be able to convert it easy enuff... just gotta check a couple things... but I don't think I want to be running 50 feet of heavy duty extension cord from the house to the garage... lol.
Im almost tempted to just go buy a miller if I have to convert to 220 and get the gas conversion for the weld pak 5000...
hmmmmm
i have a 135 plus lincoln with the gas convertion kit it works great. I also have a large miller with infinite digital adjustments it works great too. There is nothing wrong with the model your looking at and you can't beat 1/2 price thats ether at or below cost i say go for it.

i think it's a good deal if you can get it for half price. if it's the same internals as the 175, is it cheaper to get the 175 than to get the 5000HD and MIG kit? the MIG kit looks to be just the regulator for the most part. you can get the gas fitting pretty much anywhere. it's just a fitting.
running the 220 should not cost that much, but well worth it.
just consider the cost of wiring your garage for 220. you need a 220 mig for most framework, but its gunna cost you just as much as the welder to wire it, with the way copper prices are. I just spend about 1000 bucks wiring my garage and basement for 220. 220 hook up in the basement for my tig and 220 hookups in the garage for my mig and plasma. It will cost you an arm and a leg to buy wire heavy enough to run a long extension cord from your fuse box to your garage and you will hate it.
Yeah I dunno what to do really...
The welder is $425 Canadian... plus another 10% off.... the conversion kit is $167 plus 10% off.
So all said and done its like $600 CDN.
I could get a Miller 135 for about $800, and a Miller 175 for just over $1000 I think...
Dunno what it would cost to wire the garage... it might be a simple fix... but it might not be... I dunno the electronics stuff good enuff to know what needs to be done.
Just look around for a used Miller 250. I got mine for $800. The Miller 250 new is around $1600. Welds like a champ. And yes, the infinite adjustment is a big plus you can always get your heat set right where you want it.
