if I can cut the metal and get a from to TIG it for me, what else would I have to do to use a stainless cell? I know I gotta put a sending unit in it and a filler to it, but would I have to line the inside of it with anything? i know being stainless the gas won't corrode it, but I am just curious. I am going to have about $50 in a stainless steel 16 gallon fuel cell.
Youll have to get it pressure checked to make sure it wont leak on ya
yeah, the guy who is going to weld it for me is going to do that too. but is there anything else, like line the inside or anything?
When I had mine made I used the stock sump pan & stock flanges & filler neck. You can always get a donner tank, if you don't want to cut up your stock one! Didn't use baffles ,as none in stock tank!
well i am going to use a filler cap and sump and sending unit and guage from summit racing. It will be just like i ordered a fuel cel from them, but it will cost way less. I am actually planning on just running like a bulkhead fitting in the bottom for the feed line and another in the top for the return line..
what thickness are you making it out of?
i ain't too sure yet, probably gonne go with .050 or .063
mine is 16 gauge stainless and we used a 4x8 sheet of it u need to baffle the inside and a thinker ring to make the sender hole out of blk steel and stainless dont mix well.
But my main question is were are u gonna get a 4x8 sheet of 16 gauge stainless for 50.00 bucks I did mine 3 yrs ago and a sheet throught my buddies shop was 200.00
Ya im asking the same question here you getting stainless for 50 bux.I got mine through my old job for free but when prices its damn expensive.I didnt use baffles also since factory doesnt have baffles if it ever came to a problem i was going to run fuel cell foam and my cell was 12 ga
i get it free from work... i get all my metal free from work.
what is a thinker ring?
