Hi all I'm converting my bed to a tilt bed, mostly for access to air tank lines, ect anyway I need to know what kind of hinges would be good to use, I want something pleanty strong without paying a fortune, the hinges will be attached to the rear frame crossmember that I added and to the bed crossmember closest to the tailgate. Also any ideas on lifting the bed would be good too I was thinking of doing something with some airshocks to lift it but if you guys have any good ideas let me know. thanks in advance.

ive seen people do it several diffrent ways.. i think it depends on what you desire. ive seen people use a slingshot aka wishbone bar from a suspension and a few circle plates with a bag. ive also seen two bags at the end with some plates chains etc. ive also seen people use fence hinges & a bag in the middle of the hinge setup.
then again you could probably build a suicide door hinge kit also. depends on what exactly your looking for.

I would imagine a canti on an air cylinder would work best.

a pipe within a pipe would make a good hinge just be sure the pipe has sufficient wall thickness

Weld one pipe so that it is stationary. You would probably weld each end of the pipe to the frame rails. Before you weld it down slide another piece of pipe that is slightly larger in inside diameter than your stationary pipe. This pipe would rotate on the welded pipe. All youd need is a couple tabs welded to the unwelded pipe that you could either weld or bolt to your bed.

hindge joints will work great for the hinges. your local john deere dealer will have a electric ram off of a gator that will dump your bed great . it comes with everything you need to wire it up.............BODY WERKS HOPE THIS HELPS..

I think I will end up going with the gate hinges but I will look into that electric ram and use that or maybe get some airshocks and plumb it in with my air system that way I could just have a switch in the cab that I could flip
