I'm considering putting power windows in my truck. For several reasons. But I've heard that the kits suck/hard to install. I'm looking at an SPAL kit. It looks like the motor would just turn the stock mechanisms, and simply eliminate the crank? Is it a simple install? And do they generally work well and reliably? I dont want something that will take shit on me all the time...
Good question? That is something I wanted to know too!
ive installed a spal kit years ago... it elimanates the crank and keeps the assembly it runs aon like a belt system... but it comes with a nifty little cover that goes over the crank location
Go to your local junk yards or look around for factory power windows you cn usually pick up both motors for like 150-200 then you can use any switches you want the bad thing about after market kits that turn the stock crank is that they sit out side the door so if your door panels are really flat they wont go back on for example toyota door panels

thats what i have in my taco these guys are great spal makes good stuff
I did the AutoLoc kit and it was easy to install and fairly low profile, but it does cause the door pannel to bow out a little by the crank and it also leaves a little knob sticking out, obviously due to the kit using the existing mechanics...It works well, but if you could find a stock power window set-up i would definitly recommend that option.Power windows in B-Series is like finding a cop that just adores mini-truckers...
Ive installed MANY spal kits, they are super easy to install and are very reliable. There are many other ways to hide the factory splin other then the cap they give you, like putting the switches over it, etc.. But the cap isnt so bad if you paint it to match your panel.
Thanks guys. So it basically will push the dooor panel out? Or make a bulge?
You could also look into electric life I think it is. They sell complete replacement window kits. Thay have cool switch options too.
The spal kit is also good. your door panel will stick out if there is not much room behind it to mount the motor. Sometimes you can mount it inside the door to solve this problem.
I may have enough room to mount the motor in the door. My truck has wing windows, so there is a fair bit of unused space. Any chance I could mount the motor there so that it would not push out the door panel?
