is there any way to mig weld mild steel to titanium? my buddy got me some 1 inch titanium round stock and i would like to find a way to attach it to truck frames.
nope unless you have a trailing cup attached to your tig rig, titanium is SO SENSITY to heat that if gotten to hot you can actually throw it down on the floor and it will shatter, thats why you don't see frames with titanium welded to them
titanium is totally weldable but not to steel. just bolt it on
drill it and tap it for some fat threads.
Have fun drilling or tapping that stuff, unless you have a mill and some high quality bits and taps.
Use steel. Cheaper. Easy to work with. And makes you a man when you drag it.
or just use frame if you are concerned about your manhood
well im not concerned about my manhood, seein as how doors are all i drag, i just came across some titanium for free and would like to use it on some of my non-bodydropped friends trucks. and maybe make alittle cash on the side.

to drill titanium.. depending on the size of yr drill bit you have to keep it fast probably bout 1300 rpm should be ok.. and flood it with some type of coolant. dont use oil because its flammable.. and it is easy to catch titanium on fire.. it has a burning point of 1200degrees..
im a machinist for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and i machine titanium regularly.... i've turned titanium sleeves, Flange covers, shims, milled square chaulks then i've drilled bolt hole patterns in thru 3inch thick flanges... all you have to worry about is catch it on fire because it is tough to put out.. a regular fire extingusher or water wont put it out..
