I'm wantin to put a v8 in my ranger. A buddy of mine has a 289 he said he'd give me for cheap. I'm buildin a new frame from the firewall back and puttin a MII in it. I was wandering what all I'd need and how hard it is to make it fit. Also if anyone has any engines, tranny's or rear ends layin around they wanna get rid of let me know also

stock floor or tradional bd? what year ranger? i know the pinch weld at the tranny tunnel needs to be clearanced, but i would just build my own mounts. im pretty sure u can get MII w/ SBF mounts already on it...

if you are building a frame from the firewall back why not spend a little more and build a full frame with a arms and forget about the beams. fatman makes frame clips you can buy somewhat cheap

I don't think fitment is a major issue, I think the question you should be asking is "How tall will my hood scoop need to be?" My truck has a Mustang II front in it and the crossmember is pretty tall, fortunately my hood is tall too and the engine clears. If i were you I would still use the pitman arm style stearing and not a rack so that you don't have a bulky rack bolted to the front of your crossmember, that way you can get away with a much shallower crossmember. Just my $.02
