Has anyone shaved the taillights on a chevy stepside ? I am unsure of what I am about to get into with having the plastic bed side and the sheetmetal from the combo skin. Anyone have any tips or info on this ? Thanks
Also if there is anyone in the Beaumont / Houston area that wants to quote me a price for shaving the truck IM me. Doors , 3rd brake light , and full skin the tail end with the light being shaved
I havent bought anything for this project. I am just looking for info or prices on doing it.
Is it for your 98 or do you have one of the newer stepsides? I have a 01 GMC that was once a stepside (now a fleetside though). I had all my work done at killer ridez in dallas. They did excellant job. They shaved taillights and molded my steel roll pan onto my plastic bed and also installed 2 hitechs in the rollpan. Call Jim at Killer Ridez and get a quote from him.
Do not use glass to shave them use a SMC adhesive. There's a couple of different makers out there. A few are 3M Automix, Duramix, Fusion. You will be able to use the metal tailgate skin and bond it to the SMC of the bedside with no problems.
call Taylored autoworks... we are located in Spring.... im not the body man but my boss is very good and very picky and will hook you up... ask for wes you can come by and see some of the stuff he has done ... 281-850-3557
here's proof that it has been done before, this one has a step shaver though
