It sounds like the fuel pump got fried too drop the tank & see if its pumping any fuel as far as the backwards stuff i have no idea.

onetime i ran low on headlight fluid and something similar happened. def check the pump. also i would check the specs on the gurter.....i wish i had something intelligent to say...
