what is the smallest you can go on building a box? ive got 2 15" fosgate he2 dvc's and planning on putting them in my wifes carolla. but want to keep it as small as possible since she does drive it everyday and use the trunk etc. the box i have now was built to the manufacturer specs when i bought the subs. but ive heard people say you can build em a little bit smaller. is that true?

You can build the box as small as you want but you will not have enough air space. It probably won't sound good and may not even play right without the right air space, your subs might bottom out and pop more.

if you trying to save space i would do one sub only in the right size box verses doing both in the same size box as one.

look into all your options, 2 10's in the correct size and correctly ported box will perform much better than 2 15's in too small of a box.

^^^^^^^^ agreed, they will bottom out on deep bass and sound like poop, you can get killer tight bass notes outta a small box but you wont be getting your money's worth outta the subs

second question.. would sealed or a ported be better? lookin for overall good sounding at the same time be able rattle the glass out of the car when i decide to drive it. ive always done sealed but this last box i had with these subs i didnt seem to be too impressed with the overall bass.

well i have done several both ways and really it's personal preference, with a ported box, say for instance a slot port, ure gonna get more overall boom with less clarity, but that is if built to specs.

check into mounting them in an isobaric setup because that can reduce on the space but you will have the backside of one of the subs hanging out there

you could also glass the box to optimize the amount of space and really tuck them in there....

or pull the spare and glass a box out of that.

Iso mount requires twice the power.
