that'd be tough given how long the rear trailing arms are.. you'd have to cut the frame in front of them.

aside from that, I say just take the wheelbase of the longbed, subtract the wheelbase of the shortbed, and cut that much out of the frame where is nice and flat. I saw an article in Truckin a long time ago about shortening a BED, but I've never seen a frame article, it would be interesting to see. If you find it let me know.

the frames are not just longer in one place, it varies from truck to truck but the if the total wheelbase is x inches longer that entire difference is not just present before the front wheel, there is also a length difference between the wheel well and bumper. you may be cutting out 2 sections, in which case may be worht just back halfing.

You should either back half it or be a true G and rock the longbed.

I did this one about 5 years ago I wish I had more pics its pretty easy you take exactly 12 inches out of the flat part under the cab and take 8 inches off the back you do have to move the rear cab mounts.

Thanks Russ when the frame was done it was on 20's and it drove straight down the road I took it to a frame alignment shop just to double check and they couldn't tell it had been shortend. I miss it so i'm starting on an other one.

ok, thanks. It's like a 78 I think. theres a long flat section or frame, about 18 inches, under the bed. after the rear wheels looks the same as a short bed. I did think about leaving the long bed, but it looked like ass. maybe just me though. thanks
