please dont take this the worng way, but you have to give width when you give backspace or offset. Why?

Because a 7 inch wide wheel with 5 inch backspace might tuck, but a 9 inch wide wheel with 5.5 will absolutely not. If you just say "5 inches", when he looks at wheels he may find an 8.5 wide wheel that is 5 inch backspace and order it, and it wont tuck.

So my reply isnt totally worthless (lol) I'll tell you how to figure offset (the mm you want to know) when you know backspace.

FIRST: add an inch to the width of the wheel. This is because the lips add a half inch to each side, so a wheel that is 7 inches wide will actually measure 8 inches wide with a tape measure.

SECOND: divide this number in half. This is because offset is measured from the wheel centerline. So a 7 inch wide wheel would be 8 divided by 2 is 4 inches.

THIRD: Subtract the half measurement from the backspace. This gives you the offset in inches. A 5 inch backspace 7 inch wide wheel ( that is 8 inches wide ) would be 5 minus 4 = 1 inch.

FOURTH: Convert inches to mm. You can multiply the inches by 25.4, or you can go to google.com and type in "1 inch in mm" and hit enter, and it will do the conversion for you.

But you HAVE TO KNOW HOW WIDE THE WHEEL IS. If it needs 5 inches backspace (26mm offset) on a 7 inch wheel, it will need 6 for an 8 inch wide wheel (~38mm offset) and 7 for a 9 inch wide wheel (~50mm offset)

Fourth:

20x8.5 with 5.5 backspace tucks? Jeeze thats like a +18mm offset, which isnt really fwd at all. You lucky bastad ranger owner lol. On a mazda with an 8 inch wide wheel we need +50mm lol. and 8.5 needs +56!!!! (they dont exactly make those in 6 lug)

I run a 18x7.5 with a plus 45....but I run a 1 inch spacer too.....to stick the wheels out more.....And yes they are hubcentric spacer, csutom made and yes I run longer studs.....ARP race studs to be exact so they are plenty long enough.
