Kick a** forum, because I also use autocad every day. I major in drafting at school, it's very cool, I would recommend it!

catia is the best program to use for car related stuff....it has better features then solid works and has a lot of drag and drop stuff such as ball joints that could take hours to model. things like that make it much easier to build an entire chassis or whatever. I am in the Society of Aumotive Engineers at my university and i will post up a picture of our entire baja race car with every single seperate modled to scale in every manner...

aslo i think some people are getting autocad mixed up with 3d...autocad is like a walk in the park compared to most 3d programs but i only have expierence with pro e, catia, solid works and ideas 9...i also work on auto cad all day for a living in an engineering firm doing all 2d stuff..

Thats a good idea as long as things are drawn correctly and most of us use the same programs. Being I only use AutoCAD and MasterCAM I'm at a loss since Pro-E and Solidworks as easier to generate things in. Anyone have a shareware version of either or even a bootleg copy?

I've been doing a bit of CAD in my Mechanical Engineering Technology class at school. Not quite at the level of you guys yet, but it definetley comes in handy for even simple things like crossmembers, notches, etc. 1st year we did autoCAD and Solidedge. Now we are learning Catia, which seems like an awesome program. When I get the chance, I'm gonna learn solidworks as well.
