I have a 96 ranger splash reg cab...and i have been thinking about doing a body drop. What would be the best way to body drop it? In the latest Street Trucks book they are channeling a truck, what do you guys think of that route?

I have a fuel cell, 17" with 40 series rubber and I am currently bagging her right now.

channeling is body droping in a sort.channeling is where u do just around the frame( for a in or so) and bodydrop is the whole floor pan.

seems like a lot less work...I was wondering if any of you guys would or have gone that route before a traditional BD or Stock floor.

just because the magazine showed you how to do it in 15 pictures, that doesnt mean that all there is to do....as far as being easier i see a traditionall as the easiest you cut around the floor and take out however much in the firewall and back of the cab weld it back up.

granted its not as easy as it sounds but definatly the easiest of the methods in my opinion

All I am saying is that from what I see you could keep a lot of the original metal. Therefore there looks like there is less cutting. whatever way a person does a BD there is a shit load of cutting.

Can I also ask your opinion about a Stock floor. If I was to keep part of the original frame and lay a box steel frame inside the original rails.

Well we are going to pull the dash. But what I want to know, is all the little shit that I will have to do before we start. Most likely relocate some shit I know. But I want to know if my steering column will be ok, if theres anything i need to look out for when I do the front frame. Just little shit most people dont mention, thats what I want to know. How long do you think itd take to knock out if we worked on it every day? Also, would we have to pull the cab or just leave it on? Thanks for any info.

steering column no u have to fab one w/ to universal joints in it. umm clutch master cyl w/ hit, so will 3 main plugs for the wiring harness. heat/ac go by by. washer fluid bottle/coolant bottle go by by.
