Here are a few shots from two years ago when I purchased the beast from the original owner. Notice the period-correct peeling paint and the desireable cargo rack option.

As you can see, she looks best when covered with a blanket of snow.

Mostly been a car guy through the years. My truck ownership seems to coincide directly with my home's need for renovation.

Witness my first rig back in Iowa. $300 '71 F100. I got the 360 running on all eight by replacing a burned valve, stuffed in a Cam Dynamics cam, replaced the two barrel intake with a 4V unit from a Fairlane. I had C6 rebuilt with a shift kit and swapped a 3.70 limited slip in the rear end. Muscle truck!

Time passes. I sold the rack, 5th wheel tailgate and started cleaning. An air dam, requisite dually mud guards and a tonneau cover were installed.

Wanting to maximize thrust, I added a K&N drop in, a flex fan, bumped the timing a smidge and installed a Magnaflow muffler and cat on the single exhaust.

In the name of science, we headed to the drag stip to establish a baseline for our project. Our best, pre-modification, run was a blistering 17.560 at 76.9 mph.

Two years later, post modification, we garnered a 16.977 at 80.16. I was a bit disappointed that it didn't trim a full second off. That said, I'll blame the track. It was the season opener and the track was "green" and way slippery with an open diff and street tires (spun through the 1-2 gear change.) I'll go back this summer to set my mind at ease.

Welcome, nice to have another Pacific NorWesterner on the scene... I love Portland, more Gentleman's Clubs per capita than anywhere else in the USA
