My friend has a 2000 S10 and the fuel pump died. He doesn't want to shell out the $300+ for a stocker, could he run a holley blue and what psi does it need or does the line have a regulator built in ? Thanks

Holly one will work, but you will have to use the regulator. Mount the pump as close to the tank as possible, and put the regulator as close to the intake as possible. Did your buddy try any local junk yards? Sometimes you can get lucky.

nononononono

The 2000 S10 is fuel injected. It already has a regulator at the end of the fuel rail, you dont need another.

The Holley blue pump is for carbureted vehicles and is preset at 6psi. The reason the factory pump is 300 is because it runs ~40-45psi.

If you want a low cost external pump, Bosch makes one that was used on late 80's volkswagens and late 80's ford fullsize trucks with EFI, it runs about $110 dollars new on ebay. you will have to remove the factory pump which is mounted in the tank and replace it with straight tubing, then splice the external pump in line externally.

Or you could just buy the right pump. 300 at the dealer usually means ~150 aftermarket. Or find a used one in the salvage.

I used a holly blue on my s-10 thats TBI, when I was running a fuel cell, and I didnt have any problems. But I went back to gas tank. I wasnt aware that there was a stock regulator, my bad.

Apples and oranges. TBI is a low pressure system, like a carb. The 2000 S10 is a high pressure EFI system, it needs at least 40psi. The max psi from a Holley Blue (by changing the spring) is ~14psi. It wont run, even a little, with that fuel pump.

I'm running a high pressure fuel pump from MSD. It is actually designed for fuel injection and can supply enough fuel for engines up to 500H.P. Jegs carry them for about $70.

the pump i was running on my ranger was either a early 90s or late 80s ford f150 or bronco2 pump..some used the same one..pump was loud but worked like a champ..and this was with a fuel cell and inline pump setup
