those frames are cool, no doubt show winners, but on a street driven truck all that low length waaay out behind the axle is just begging to get caught on stuff. Also, building the frame to be level all the way to the rear of the truck may be cool for dragging, but remember that almost every truck bed has a taper up behind the rear wheel arch, so all that frame and gas tank and whatever else will be visible under the rollpan, which would be kind of ghetto.
It works on LittleShopLackey's Blazer though because the rear overhang is so short...
Just my opinions. People probably think it looks bitchin till they put the bed back though.....
thats the first thing i thought of when i wanted to do this, but what i decided is that i would do it under the axle untill the back of the wheel well, then rais it back up a few inches for the fuel cell mounting and batteries and pumps....
idk, the more and more i think about it, it just isnt want i want. I like the idea, but i cant think of a safe way to mount hydro cylinders without being in a levered style system, and i dont want to do that, i like mine positioned over the axle. I will probably just build it keeping the frame really low in front of the axle, and bring it back up after, for the fuel cell to mount to and batteries and what not.
thanks for the info guys.
tomcak, i think im seeing what your sayin now. sounds like it could be a bitch to design, and make it look real good...

I was seriously looking into doing an under axle frame but it was going to be kinda pointless for my goals. the only reason i wanted to do it was to gain bedfloor clearance but the 2x3 standing up was still 1" shorter than the top of the hoghead so i was gonna gain nothing basically. I would also be limiting the lift to like 9" before the tubing hit the bottom of the axle. So unless if your plan is just to be different itll be kinda dumb. Just my opinion... everybody has one

i remember a white single cab silverad on here a while back and i was looking the other day and i can't find it. it was a frame under axle and a subframe on top of the axle. air bag setup, running 2 bags on the bottom of the axle and 2 on the top pullin 3 wheels.
