beam resistance is measured by the hieght of the frame. when you cut it in half it cuts the resistance in half. yes it can be made stronger. a lot of people out there dont know how. all im saying is chose wisely on how it is done. careful planning.

I understand what you mean. But why does IF custom cut their frames in half then place square tubing in it if its a bad idea? I'd rather ditch the whole frame(besides the front clip) and build a new one back. Way better in my opinion...

A boxed 2x3x.25 frame is stronger than a 5.5x3/16 c channel. The only problem is the c-channel frame is designed to flex and the more rigid box tubing will not. This means the boxed frame is more prone to stress cracking. As long as it is build well a truck that doesnt tow will probably never cause it to break. The exta headroom is nice and as long as you get a quality shop like Hellbent Customs in Kannapolis NC to do it it will be trouble free.

you do understand that when a SFDB is done that way that there is ALWAY a new frame rail build inside of the old cut down rail. the only reason that if custom's does it that way is because they don't want to take the whole truck apart to build a brand new frame. they can just cut, install the new rails, weld it up, lay it down and rework the floor. it is a lot easier to do then a firewall back section.
