Engine Driven Compressor
I would like to know what luck people are having with the engine driven compressors? Are you having any trouble with the air line melting? What brand works the best and where to get it from? Also has anyone converted a 98+ ranger a/c compressor into a pump?
i run hydro hose for the first 3 feet outta the comp
i just went and run a braided line all the way from my EDC to the air tank in the trunk on my lincoln, it was expensive($100) but damnit it wont melt or bust. and thanks to ol justin(Low4l1fe), we ran it thru the inside of my frame so its not exposed or anything
I am running braided teflon hose for the first 4' out of the compressor. It was expensive but unlike rubber hose the inside can take the heat. It will not break down and drop pieces into my air system!

Do you guys run 1 or 2 water traps?
i run a small section of braided line from the compressor. the kit i bought came with 4 feet of braided line to go from the compressor to DOT. ive had mine on there a year and i havent had any problems with it yet. if i were doing it from scratch, i would run braided to the tank. you should only need one water trap in line between the compressor to the tank. those compressors spit out a good amound of oil (WHALE CUM) and you dont want that to get in your system. i used one of the 1/2" SMC ones and they are great.
I run no water traps!
A water trap that close to the compressor does nothing..the hot air just slides on through. the moister comes when it expands and chills in the actual tank. for a water trap to work it should be after the tank before the Valves. I simply run a dump valve on the lowest part of the tank. and drain it every now and again!
But with an EDC that is not over worked water is not really a problem. Since it fills the tank so fast you do not get the excess heat from the compressor like the electric ones!
