I just was wondering if you guys had any creative ways of mounting your fuel cells behind your axle. What do you typically mount it to? flat stock? Square tubing? And is a rubber isolator necessary for a alum cell.
duct tape and bungie cords work well lol, im doing on on an s-10 and havent figured my plan of attack yet, first i have to repair the frame that was hacked out for the factory tank to be relocated behind the axle....i hait fixin shit like that lol
There's all different ways. You can make a frame from angle iron, or a cradle from tube. Straps, Bars...Etc.
When I mount mine, all my air shit is under my bed, therefore I would have to mount mine in the bed behind the axle. What is the best way to mount that??
joe you know how mine is mounted... little overkill but i like the crash protection it offers over angle iron.

And is a rubber isolator necessary for a alum cell. I used my left over 1/4" plate and made a cradle of sorts. I then welded in a front and rear fuel cell crossmember and welded the cradle to them. Turned out good and was real easy! I have a pic of the rear setup in my profile, you can see the fuel cell but it might be hard to see how its mounted? any questions just let me know.
so here is what i think ive decided on...
either 3x1 or 2x1 c channel with 3/16 wall. This will be welded to the bottom of my frame for the cell to sit on and then i will isolate it off of it with rubber gromits and bolt it to the tabs on the cell itself. Then cage it in with some 1x1 boc or 2x1 rectangle tubing. just for some protection.
