im workin on my control arm back frame on my hardbody. i used 2x3, here are a few pics the first one shows how it was connected to the stock frame(stock frame is boxed in). the plate on top was to help fill the gap and have a better fit, and also so when its all ground down it will blend better......right now it has no flex puttin a jack under it and liftin it holding the engine weight and all..i still plan on plating the inside and possibly the bottom when i pull the motor just for added strenght.

Thanks everyone for your help, and 'tandem' that little drawing was exactly how i plan on doing it but with plates on inside plug welded as well. (I need as much strength as possible as a decent HP V8 is going in this little truck...)

Now the only thing I need to decide is to stick with my existing rear chassis from the back of the cab back (stock/modified chassis) or carry the new rails all the way back to the rear and re-do it all???....

Here's an older pic of my rear end.

My amigo is but welded when grafting on the front 2wd truck frame, then we ground it smooth, and put a 1/4" plate on it on the inside and outside of the frame, about 8" long and welded it in. Looks like a bandaid almost, think i may have it airbrushed like that. LOL
