I've always been one to say to each their own. I personally don't like them...at all...but some of them out there really do have badass suspension setups, safe brakes, badass motors that these people have all put money into and did it right (if there is such thing as a correct donk??) But like the original post has said, they are going to show up at our shows, more power to them to support the funds and charities and "show off" their rides but keep the magazine coverage of them to the DONK Magazines. I highly doubtyou would see a mini in the DONK magazine unless maybe we were parked under one...now that would be cool!

Since when is it "OUR" scene? If it had originally been "OUR" scene, it would have died. Anyone is welcome to come to any show and show anything they want. Who are we to tell them they can't come and show off something that they enjoy?
I couldn't agree more. If the people that own these donks come in peace and show pride in their rides then who are we to say they cant come? They do contribute to our scene in my opinion. How many custom shops that build minis also build donks to pay the bills? I will agree that 95% of them are unsafe and just plain gay looking. But i have seen plenty of minis, lowriders, imports, and hot rods that are also completely unsafe and gay looking also. I just hope one day the donk scene takes on a more serious way of building their rides and start putting tube suspensions and big brakes that make them actually safe and fun to drive. There is actually a tubed chassis Caprice on one of the old chat forums that in my opinion was completely badass. Not cause it looked cool but because if took every bit of skill it takes to build a minis frame to build a proper donk frame like that one i speak of. I've only been in the show scene for about 6 years now and have already seen a drastic change in what people are building for the good and the bad. Some shit sticks and other shit is just a good laugh two years later when you are looking through your old show pics. One day when my Cutlass is done it will be the one on its rockers with 22's cause its my style while someone else might have the same body cutlass jacked up on 26's and that would be his style. I say build what you want and let others do the same if they are bringing a positive attitude and pride to the show. Isnt that what its all about anyways?

With what I just said, and going back to the two main pictures posted and to see they were here on SSM, it is "Street Source Magazine" not "Minitruck/Hotrod Only Magazine" so like everyone else said, if you've been in it, you learn to tolerate the stuff you don't like. Look, laugh, keep walking (in that order) onto what you like at the shows.

well, i personally don't like them myself. they remind me of kids toys. But i am not going to refuse to post pictures if they were at a show we covered. To each his own. I won't feature one, but if they go to a show we won't delete the pics of them. Somebody might enjoy the pics of these type of cars. It's not like we are using room that could be minitrucks in favor of one of those. ONline, you can have all of them.

I got love for whatever it is and can appreciate the work these guys did to customize their vehicles. Sure there are a lot of hack jobs on donks but I've probably seen worse in the mini-truck part of the scene. Should we not let the topic starters riced out Cavalier enter a "minitruck show" cuz it has a wing and body kit? No, cuz most of us can live without bitching about it and appreciate another fellow customizer. When everyone quits their phuckin cryin and bitching maybe this "mini-truck scene" will be awesome once again.

Yup, i'd def roll one as a daily
I think more poeple just hate em because it's what they're supposed to do or something, i don't know
Most are pretty goofy. Bright weird paint and shield wheels. Which i don't care for.
But as far as a lo lo, caprice, box-whatever-lifted a little with 26's, bigger brakes and a nice suspension, i'd love to have one!

These shows arent mini truck shows. They are and truck shows. Everyones tastes are different and likes to express themselves differently. I personally would never own a mini but I have much respect for them and their owners originality. The more ideas people come up with the more crazy ass stuff we have to look at. I mean what would a show be if it was nothing but minis? I mean should I not be in the scene because I have an old car (tuckin all 4 22s's haha)? What about Ektensives H2 or That Severed Ties Peterbilt? "Pimple on the face of our life"......thats funny. Like it or not these guys are trend setters and they could probably care less what anybody else thinks (which is how it should be) cuz to them they got the hardest shit on the streetz!
