I'm not a big fan of the "donks" but I respect them. There just like we are they just play a different sport in a sense. They customize there vehicles just like we do. There up 3 nights in a row trying to get their ride ready for a show just like we are. You don't have to like them, but you should respect them. They turn more heads than most mini trucks. I've seen little kids run across the parking lot of walmart to look at one, they passed my truck up and didn't even glance. The cars are gaining popularity and I don't see them going anywhere any time soon, so I would get used to em. Before you know it, someone will be towing there mini to the show with one. This scene isn't just about mini's, it's about customs.

I don't like them, but I never liked traditional lo-lo's either with wires and whitewalls.

My thinking is that these are trying to be a more modernized version of those. If you think about it, they are the same kinds of cars you used to see in Lowrider magazine, just not so low anymore! You couldn't lay a Regal over some 26x10's, or even 24x10's, so this is what they do to make 'em fit I guess!

Somebody needs to try laying one of these out over some big ass wheels. If they have, show some pics!

i'll tell ya now, the ratio of safe to unsafe donks is prolly 80:20, versus the 20:80 to minitrucks...... that donk above is unsafe, one main unsafe part is that the spindle looks to be a modified fabtech f/s lift spindle that has been cut up...... one reason is that most people that buy donks buy lift parts premade, and i know all the parts that the shop i work for are as safe as stock stuff.....

oh yeah i dont mind the cars, i can not f-in stand the stupid music outside the cars and the damn swerving back and forth...!!! ok now i feel better.

there not swervin on purpose lol they are just realy badly built.have you every realy looked how those cars are built. i gota friend thats buildin those at his shop were i was helpin on the doors and i started checkin into it. i am like hell no my name aint going on any of those. most of them have realy bad rear stear from the way those are cheeply done. longer arms in the factory location. when they hit a bump it pushes the axle way off. and look at the strait stearing rod with the control arms, some crazy bump stear, they could have at least did a straight axle.

Okay, come on guys. I know we all see these cars all over the place. and they are starting to show up at all the good shows, but do they really need to be covered in our mini truck scene? I may just be too proud of the mini truck scene. But I see these "donks" as the pimple on the face of our life. Lets not let this happen please....

people could say the same thing about a cavalier with body kit and spoiler and euro tails... if a donk is really nice with quality work ill roll with him anyday... its all about building and loving custom rides....even if they might look funny to some of us

heres one that i saw at a show recently . it was really scary, and unstable looking while he was driving, notice the stock ass brakes! and he was swearving like a retard, i can appreciate anything custom , but i draw the line at stupidity

i didnt read through it all but am i the only one who noteced that this thing only has shocks on one side?? or am i that retarded??

There's shocks on both sides. The first pic is of the frt suspension. You can also see the rear shocks in the first pic. What I thought was funny besides reading some of the post is the smiley face welded into the frt lower crossmember. Anybody else notice that?? Well I guess I may as well comment since I am wastin a post. I don't like these cars much either myself, and like so many have said, there are alot of unsafe vehicles on the road. Not only are alot of them modified by inexperienced builders but most if not all have at least one or more parts on them that were intended for off road use only. Read the small print sometime. You will be suprised what you are rollin on the street that could literally hurt you or someone else if it were to fail on you while rollin down the street at speeds. Anyways, I respect anyone who tries to be different. That's what it's all about. Gettin that eye catchin attention. Building something that everyone knows is your sh*t. Being unique. Can't we all just get along??

LOL

I guess it just scares me some with the workmanship of most of them. I never looked at them with curious eye very much but a friend of mine pointed out some of the quality of work behind these things. now I see one come down the road and I start jumping lanes to get away from it. I saw one in a wreck and wheels pretty much snapped off like a twig. they just plain scare me. I respect anything that someone puts time and money in to. just don't see these as having any real large amount of workmanship in them thats all. just really expensive wheels and tires. And really all they have in common with our scene is big wheels. they don't shave anything. No real metal work to speak of at all. I donno. I guess I am just in a ranting mood.

The workmanship on a lot of minitrucks scares me....

Another thing, about this picture

I don't think this is what Foose has in mind when he designs hot rods

that car is pretty clean, and i dont think those wheels would go on anything foose built......
