Find a reputable shop that you have seen good work come out of and sit down with whoever is working on it. Come up with a gameplan with them and go from there.

I would get it in writing and have a completion date also. My truck has been in the shop for 3 months on a simple brake line.

GET THE COMPLETEION DATE IN WRITING!!!!

no matter if you get a contract or not law is not on yourside unless the people actually own something in there name so take it to a good reputible shop that been around awhile dont give them all the cash upfront and have a completion date and a penelty against them if the break that date

If you brought it to my shop, and wanted a guarenteed completion date w/ penelty, I would send you right back out the door. We do all our work in a very timely manner, but you never know what is going to happen. We could get slammed with other work, death in the family, injury, who the hell knows. Shops out there, unless they are hurting for business will not do this in general. Look for a shop that you know is reputable and fairly quick. Just know that what your having done could take some time, nothing pisses off a shop more than an impatient customer wanting things finished by magic. Go in expecting to put a couple grand down, then the rest when the job is finished. Good luck bro!!!
