this one is just the snout and the gears, i know i can swap the gears into mine, but the splines and shaft size are different if i understand correctly
i'm hoping i can pull the LSD apart and put my parts into it to make it work....
^^^^ i didn't get any of that.
your saying the ring gear is the same? what about the pinion? and what splines and shaft?
i don't know enough about it to be able to talk with any authroity
from what i understand the splines where the axle shafts go in is where the problem is with this LSD over the other
different sizes i believe
i was hoping i could swap some of those parts out with mine, but mine is open not an LSD
really, i will only learn when i see the diff.
Does anyone know the axle width of a 85 and up? Maybe I could put a newer axle assembly in my truck so I could do this modification.
*EDIT* It looks like 59" vs my 54"

time.
Were you ever able to put up pictures ?
I have a rx7 LSD for sale out of 84 so I was told it works for b2200
QUESTIONS:
1. Does the 84-85 rx7 LSD swap into a B2200 cause excessive axle end play?
I saw a post where somebody suggested it did
(4th post at this link)
2. Also, What actually "holds in" the axles on B-Series trucks? C-Clips?
3. And if a axle snaps, could the tire/wheel/axle assembly separate from the truck and take off rolling down the street?? (seen a mustang do that once)
Yes you would have excessive axle end play. What some people have done is weld washers onto the spline end of the axles to make them longer.
I had my rearend narrowed 2", so when I shortened the axles, I just took enough off that I would be within the correct range of end play.
I welded washers to the ends of my axles and it worked just fine. There is a spec in the service manual for the end play on the axles. I used a dial indicator to check mine after welding the washers on and had to remove a few of the factory shims under the bearing plate on one side to get it where it needed to be. If your axle breaks they are held in by the 4 bolts behind the drum so there is no c clip inside the diff
Okay, thanks guy's!
Washer trick sounds easy enough. I searched all over the internet and couldn't find any info on it. Glad it's been done before by somebody.
And I'm glad to hear I won't be 3-wheelin my truck if a axle snaps.
I know that it's not the strongest route to go for a rear end, but on a budget, the 84-85 lsd chunck with my axles seems fine. Like a fuse, if it blows I'll replace it.
