my first truck, a 86 ford ranger single cab short bed. After a breakdown, the truck caught on fire and the engine was wasted. Im planning on rebuilding it from the ground up. I have a problem finding parts for the 2.9l that im rebuilding tho, i cant seem to find a racing cam, or headers or anything. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

a true engine builder will tell u there's no such thing as a racing cam. they want specific lobe durations. headers u might have to get custom built.

truckperformance.com used to have headers for that motor. Have you priced the heads yet? My freind has a 87 ranger w/that motor and after we called the machine shop to see how much it was actually going to cost, we decided to look for a different motor. I know these motors have oil-sump problems and the heads crack a lot. I would go find me a Early 90's Mark VII w/5.0 and call Advanced Adapters.
