Heres what im lookin to do. I dont want to have to fabricate a completely new frame at the moment, so i am interested in re-constructing the frame under the cab section of the vehicle. I was winderin if anyone has done this before with as S-10, and how they went about it.
Trying to keep it as simple as possible, but still safe and functionable. Im still open to doing a mixture of traditional and stock floor bd, just dont want to Traditionl the whole thing....
any suggesgions, and or pics?

u should be able to do a full stock floor with 3x3 inside the old rails. u will have to raise your floor pans and trans tunnel still. but not the seat area.
I think i've seen pics on the IF site of an s10 SFBD'd like u are saying.

i used 2x3 3/16 for my whole frame. its not goin anywhere.
honestly man you should do it the right way the first time. because down the road your gonna want to do it over anyways i wish i had done everything the way i wanted the first time it would have saved me a ton of time and money. and 3/16 wall 3x3 is plenty the stock frame aint even that thick and its c channel

theres nothing wrong about what hes planning to do. some people could care less about a crazy looking frame and all the work that goes with it. This way he can just have a SFBD, and still be able to use any of the kits available for an s10, since his rear frame section will be untouched.

thats just it.
i dont want a full fabbed frame. Thats not what im going for whith this project. If i was, thats what i would do. Im not going for any flashy frame work or anything, been thare before....just want a clean, closed bed , no holes for notch or anything...and to lay body on 20s.......if i wanted sometin else , thats what i would do.
I dont understand how you could only consider that the "right" way.
thanks for teh link also......exactly what i wanted to see.

theres no reason at all to build a new frame for a normal SFBD. you will want to take your cab off and everything to make it easier. just cut out the inside of the frame rail and slip the 3x3 in, weld it up and drop the frame mounts down 2" in the front of the cab and 3" in the back. then section 1" out of the front mounts on the cab and use a longer bolt. youll need to redo the floorpan under the pedals and the tranny tunnel but itll come out great. thats how i do all my stockfloors, even my crewcab longbed.

well when i do my frame im going to use 1/4 2x3 tubing, and a full frame from the firewall back.
