I have an 88 D50 2.6 auto, And I am gonna get a Weber Conversion Kit, so it supposedly comes with everything needed, including instructions. My question is, How hard is it really? I know my carb has a million diff. Vac lines, and I dont want to get myself into somthing I cant finish, or something I cant do right. I'm not too worried, I'm pretty sure I can get it done correctly, but just wanted an outside opinion.
ya its not that hard all that vac. shit leaves well atleast on mine i took it all off. if you have to worry about emissons then don't use the exshaust plug. I did mine in about an hour and a half because I cleaned my engine bay up while I was at it. Good luck geting it adjusted right I always had a problem with it dieseling. let me know if you have any ?'s I've done like 3 of them now so it's pretty easy for me. i'll try and find what settings i used that worked best.
ok cool. I Shouldnt have any probs gettin it on, But I was just checking. I'll be doing it in school, So I'll have plenty of help if needed to get it adjusted. And nah, no emissions testing here, so I'm good. But Thanks for the info.
easiest thing youll ever do. dont worry about the zillion vaacuum lines, youll be tossing all that shiz right into the trashola. all early mini owners should get the weber set up and ditch all that other crap. youll even get some HP while doin it. if your really cool, youll save a few bucks and get the side draft weber kit.. youll thank me later when you do your body drop!!!
I wanted a side draft kit, but didnt really find any for the right price. I dont have the kit yet, but do ALL the vac lines get tossed, surely there will be a line or two that has a real purpose
I'm not 100% expert on this subject but I do know the weber is a big-f'in improvement over the stock elec carb. not many vacuum lines to run once you pull that hunk of shit off the manifold. I've got a friend convincing me to go multi throttle body with a megasquirt
Can anyone tell me for certain exactly what to do with all the vac lines? do I cap them, T them with the other hoses, or just Leave them like they are? I mean, there are a Sh*t load of em

the only lines you still need are the ones for the vacume advance, and the big ass one that goes to your brake booster for power brakes, all the other emissions BS gets tossed in the trash can.
ok, I plan on pullin this off tomm, so just getting all the info I can. Where does the brake hose hook onto the carb? I only places I see on mine are the one coming out of the bottom of the Filter, and the Vacume advance... So I assume its the one out the bottom of the filter? Also, anyone have trouble with the clips fitting on the filter assy to hold it together, mine seem to be too short.
The brake booster line is actually on the intake, the large diameter one that goes to the booster.
the line you are talking about is the PCV valve line, There is a spot on the weber air cleaner to attach it.
And you only need the vacuum advance line from the weber to the dizzy, dont worry, you cant get the wrong vacuum line because there is only one on the weber.
Dont forget to plug all the vacuum nipples on the intake, EVERY SINGLE ONE. Miss even a small one and you will change the tuning. Otherwise that big slimy octupus of factory carb can go right in the trash.
And chris: ITB's and MS are indeed a possiblity if you keep your truck longer than you keep leftovers.
