If your going to be welding alot of different materials like stainless, aluminum and chromoly, I'd get the Tig. If your mainly doing steel get the mig. I have both and use the mig much more.

Probably mig then, I have a Miller 135.. and i love it. search for it on ebay, and theres a company like 'weldingsuppliesinc' or something, they have awesome deals.. like free carts/free shipping, etc. good price too.. like $100 less than what I paid locally

if u plan on doing frame work at the most youll need a good size tig machine thats water cooled around 2000.00+. if your doing different things small to big get a mig it take lots of practice to learn and perfect tig welding i use my tig maybe 3-4 times a week doing small indricate things that require small but good welds. its taken about a year to get it down perfect the worst is welding tube trying to get both hands and foot to do the same thing. the mig is an all around welder easier to learn and fast. miller is one of the best to me US made and US parts and most repair places have the parts u made need unlike lincoln or hobart. the miller 210 dv the dual voltage one is the best for the do it yourself guy 110/220 depending on where you need it .

If you do go tig get the finger tip control so you can get into difficult areas.

correct me if i am wrong but isn't hobart a knockoff line of miller or something like that i know alot of hobart parts can be swapped with miller's
